Design a website for Breadsense, an online awareness campaign celebrating the joys of bread.
Breadsense is bread p*rn, and needed to show off the goods. It couldn't look like other bread sites, which are usually red and serif-heavy (dowdy AF). Had to sport several blogs, integrate with social, and be super easy to update with new content.
Enter Squarespace. We created a fresh look with huge parallax scrolling banners, tons of white space and sans serif typography. We used green to keep things fresh (inspired by salad leaves to help associate bread with healthy eating), and orange for energy.
Look & Feel
To make Breadsense stand out from the crowd, we used freshly baked font Proxima Nova with bold orange & Eaton Blue.
Immersive full screen banners show off sandwiches, buns and bakes to die for.
We removed the date & author titles from a blog page and used it to structure contributor profile pages.
The successful campaign was renewed for another year by the client, Aunt Millie's Bakeries, and won an award for best online campaign from the local American Advertising Federation chapter.
The site is easy to update — requires minimal maintenance, even though new content is added every month. It also handles large images with ease.
The Breadsense blog is popular, and sees a steady stream of traffic from the ideal audience (soccer moms & foodies).
Multiple built-in blogs allows for easy organization of the 4 regular contributors' content.
